Paris-2024: Azerbaijan ranks 22nd in Paralympic medal standings

Azerbaijan has climbed to 22nd place in the medal standings at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games.

According to the information , this achievement was made possible by para-athlete Lamiya Valiyeva, who won a gold medal in the 100-meter race (T13 category).

The Azerbaijani national team currently holds 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal.

Earlier, gold medals were won by Imameddin Khalilov (parataekwondo, 70 kg) and Said Najafzada (T12, long jump). Raman Saley secured a silver in the 100 meters backstroke, and Sabir Zeynalov earned a bronze in parataekwondo (58 kg).

China leads the medal table with 53 gold, 40 silver, and 22 bronze medals. The UK is second with 30 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze, followed by the US with 20 gold, 22 silver, and 11 bronze.

The Paralympics will conclude on September 8.
