Ankara will continue diplomatic efforts regarding the exchange of prisoners of war between Moscow and Kyiv, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists on the plane while returning from Russia's Kazan, reported from Turkish media.

Erdogan noted that he discussed the issue of PoW exchange with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.

"During our meeting with Mr. Putin and his delegation, we also saw that there are hopes for prisoner exchange. Currently, we are closely monitoring the steps for prisoner exchange. We will continue to do everything possible to resolve issues through diplomatic means. Our desire is to start peace negotiations between the two countries as soon as possible and pave the way for a favorable outcome. War has no winners, and there will be no losers in the peace process," he added.
