PM: Diplomatic measures will be taken if EU ambassador doesn't stop interfering in Georgia's internal affairs

If the European Union Ambassador to Georgia does not stop interfering in the country's internal affairs and change his rhetoric, diplomatic measures will be taken, Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told a briefing.

According to Kobakhidze, apparently, the EU Ambassador has directly joined the election campaign, supporting the radical opposition and opposing the ruling team.

"This is a serious violation of the Vienna Convention and democratic election principles. Therefore, his disinformation statement wasn't too surprising for us. Pawel Herczynski, who announced before the elections that Georgia's EU integration process was suspended, now states that this process was actually suspended by the Georgian authorities. For some time, we had refrained from giving diplomatic reactions to such events, but everything has its limits, and if we don't see a change in behavior, we will give diplomatic reactions to such facts in the future, including against the EU Ambassador and other relevant persons," Kobakhidze stated.

Regarding specific diplomatic steps, he noted that first, this would involve summoning the ambassador to Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski called the decision to suspend the country's EU membership process regrettable.
