In October, the EU purchased Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 701.5 million euros, the highest amount since November 2023, with France accounting for more than half of this sum, reported from TASS.

Russia remained among the leaders in the total value of EU gas imports with a 21.2% share, surpassing the United States but falling behind Algeria. In October, EU countries paid 701.5 million euros for Russian LNG, which is 28% more than in September 2024 and 26% more than in October 2023.

This figure was the highest since November 2023, when 719 million euros was spent on Russian liquefied gas supplies. The main importers were France (366 million euros - the highest since December 2022), Spain (141.5 million euros), and the Netherlands (93.6 million euros). Belgium reduced its Russian LNG purchases by almost half compared to September, down to 73.1 million euros.
