Azerbaijan has taken specific measures to investigate and prosecute mass atrocities and other crimes committed by Armenia during the aggression in the early 1990s and the subsequent nearly thirty-year occupation of Azerbaijan's territories, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations (UN) Tofig Musayev said during an informal interactive dialogue of the UN General Assembly on the topic of protecting human dignity in armed conflict, promoting compliance with international humanitarian law .

In his speech, Tofig Musayev noted that the denial of gross violations of law, ignoring these crimes, as well as attempts to discredit justice through disinformation and defamation campaigns in the media, parliaments and international organizations are a clear manifestation of disrespect for international law and the principle of the rule of law.
