Fresh cross-border firing reported on India–Pakistan frontier

Pakistani troops opened fire overnight along the Line of Control (LoC) in several areas of India’s union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army said, Hindustan Times reported.
“During the night of April 29–30, Pakistani army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors. Indian troops responded swiftly and proportionately,” the statement read.
The latest ceasefire violation comes amid escalating tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad following a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that left 26 people dead.
Earlier, Indian outlet The Hindu reported that the Resistance Front (TRF), a little-known militant group formed in 2019 during a previous escalation in Kashmir, initially claimed responsibility for the attack, calling it a response to what they described as “demographic changes” in the region. The group later denied involvement.
