bp holds technical seminar in Azerbaijan on HPC and seismic innovations

bp, in cooperation with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and state oil company SOCAR, held a two-day technical seminar  focused on advances in high performance computing (HPC), basin exploration innovations, seismic processing and data acquisition.

The event brought together experts from bp, the ministry, SOCAR and the Caspian Innovation Centre to exchange knowledge and explore future cooperation.

Discussions covered Azerbaijan’s newly established supercomputer facility, bp’s global HPC expertise at its Houston centre, SOCAR’s seismic data collection and processing plans, and the Caspian Innovation Centre’s application of artificial intelligence in seismic imaging.

bp also presented existing and planned cooperation initiatives aimed at enhancing technical capacity and accelerating innovation.

The seminar highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between industry and government and the role of healthy competition in strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a regional leader in advanced energy technologies.
