AI-generated Rabitabank ad using classic film character raises copyright concerns

An advertisement produced by Rabitabank using artificial intelligence and featuring the character Jabish muallim from the Azerbaijani film Our Teacher Jabish has prompted debate over copyright.

Sevil Alasgarova, the daughter of People’s Artist Suleyman Alasgarov, who played the character, told Bizim.media that the family had not given permission for the image to be used for commercial purposes.

She said the issue concerned not only copyright but also respect for the actor’s artistic legacy, adding that authors or their legal successors should be consulted in such cases.

The film was released in 1969, directed by Hasan Seyidbayli and written by Magsud Ibrahimbayov.

Rabitabank has not yet publicly commented on the issue.
