U.S. imposes new sanctions on companies and vessels linked to Iranian oil exports

The United States has imposed a new round of sanctions targeting companies, vessels and individuals involved in exporting Iranian oil, the U.S. Treasury Department said.

The measures target Sepehr Energy Jahan, along with affiliated entities in the UAE, Panama and India. The sanctions list also includes six “shadow fleet” tankers transporting Iranian crude, as well as Iranian airline Mahan Air and its subsidiary Yazd Airways.

According to the Treasury, Mahan Air provides logistical support and weapons transfers to Iran-backed groups in Syria and Lebanon. Several individuals coordinating shipments of oil and aviation equipment were also designated.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said disrupting Iran’s revenue streams is critical to limiting its nuclear ambitions. The sanctions were imposed under existing counterterrorism and Iran oil-sector executive orders.
