“Azercell Telecom” LLC, the Embassy of Mexico and “Ümidli Gələcək” Public Association Social Initiatives launch a joint initiative to support the well-being of women

The Spanish-language version of the “Women Hotline” guide was unveiled on November 25, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the UN “Orange Day” initiative. The event was organized by “Azercell Telecom” LLC in cooperation with the Embassy of the United Mexican States in Azerbaijan and “Ümidli Gələcək” Public Association Social Initiatives. The presentation brought together representatives of government institutions, including the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of AR, members of the diplomatic missions and international institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations.

Speaking at the event, Shirin Aliyeva, Chief Legal and Data Strategy Officer at Azercell, emphasized the company’s strong commitment to empowering women as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy: The Hotline is a meaningful social initiative designed to enhance the well-being of women by providing immediate support to those facing challenging circumstances. Our goal is to ensure timely and professional assistance for women who need urgent help. Making the guide available in Spanish increases the accessibility of the service, helping us to reach a broader audience, and significantly expands the project’s impact.”

Following her remarks, Shirin Aliyeva invited guests to view Azercell’s social awareness video “Women Offline” (//www.youtube.com/watch?v=waahCx8YfXE) dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Maria Victoria Romero Caballero, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to Azerbaijan, highlighted her country’s wide-ranging efforts to promote gender equality. She noted that numerous initiatives are actively being implemented at both the national and international levels. Ambassador Victoria Romero emphasized the special importance of cooperation in this area: “This guideline has been developed through collaboration between government institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Our core objective is to empower women, protect their rights, and effectively advance gender equality.”

Kamala Ashumova, Head of “Ümidli Gələcək” Public Association, then offered the participants a detailed overview of the “Women Hotline” activities.

Launched in 2022 at the initiative and with the support of Azercell, the Women Hotline has provided assistance to more than 11,300 women to date. The service is operated by the “Ümidli Gələcək” Public Association Social Initiatives. The primary mission of the Hotline is to deliver prompt, comprehensive psychosocial support to women, helping to ensure their safety, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society when needed. To achieve this, the Women Hotline collaborates closely with legal clinics, relevant state institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
