Italy highlights cultural affinity and energy partnership with Azerbaijan

Italy sees Azerbaijan as a reliable partner, Italian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli said at the 6th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Italy Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Baku, according to APA.

“Azerbaijan is, first and foremost, a supplier of oil for us, and secondly a supplier of gas. Energy plays a very important role in our bilateral relations. Italians also feel a strong sense of cultural affinity with Azerbaijan,” Cirielli said.

He added that Italy supports Azerbaijan’s efforts to diversify its energy resources and is ready to provide advisory assistance in this field.

Cirielli also praised Azerbaijan for hosting the international climate conference COP29 at a high level.
