Gold and Silver Surge to Historic Highs

Gold and Silver Surge to Historic Highs
14.01.2026 10:30

: Azerbaijan Boosts Reserves

Gold futures for February 2026 reached an unprecedented $4,642.24, while silver soared over 5% to $90.66.

Amidst this rally, the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) increased its gold holdings by 15.8 tons in Q2 2025, bringing the share of gold in its total investment portfolio to 28.8%.

The surge reflects a global shift towards safe-haven assets. Azerbaijan is strategically positioning itself by diversifying its sovereign wealth fund.

With non-oil exports rising to $3 billion (a 6.6% increase), the rising value of precious metals directly benefits Azerbaijan's trade balance, as the country continues to develop its mining sector alongside its traditional energy exports.
