Brent oil prices steady as easing Iran tensions lower supply risks
Brent crude prices were little changed on Monday as a deadly crackdown on protests in Iran appeared to quell civil unrest, reducing the immediate likelihood of a U.S. strike that could disrupt Middle Eastern supplies.
Brent crude futures were trading at $64.18 a barrel by early morning, up 5 cents or 0.08%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 8 cents to $59.52.
Market sentiment shifted as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared to step back from earlier threats of intervention. While prices remain supported by geopolitical uncertainty, the lack of an immediate escalation has prompted a retreat from the multi-month highs reached last week.
