Sharp cold snap to hit Azerbaijan, snow and icy roads expected

Precipitation is forecast in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula from February 4 to 7, with heavy rainfall expected in some areas on February 4, according to the National Hydrometeorology Service.

The agency said rain could turn into sleet and snow in some places during the day and overnight into February 5.

Across Azerbaijan’s regions, intermittent precipitation is expected from the evening of February 3 until midday on February 5, with snowfall forecast in certain areas. Some locations may experience heavy precipitation.

Icy conditions are expected on roads in mountainous and foothill areas from February 4 to 7. Air temperatures across the country are forecast to fall by 5–10 degrees compared with previous days.
