Belarus ready to respond to threats but does not seek war, Lukashenko says
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said his country does not seek war but is preparing for potential risks.
Speaking at a meeting of the armed forces, Lukashenko said Belarus supports peace but continues to strengthen its defence capabilities.
“If someone decides to point weapons at us, we will respond. We are preparing for this,” he said.
He added that such an approach is particularly important for the military, who understand the consequences of war.
Lukashenko had earlier said during a meeting with Alireza Sanei that wars are unacceptable for Belarus, while noting a growing global arms race, including in nuclear weapons.
