U.S. may strike Iran’s energy infrastructure if no deal is reached, Trump says
Washington may carry out strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure if talks fail to produce an agreement, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an address to the nation.
According to him, if no deal is reached, the United States is ready to target key facilities, including power plants, “very hard and likely simultaneously”.
Trump noted that the United States has not yet struck Iran’s oil infrastructure, calling it “the easiest target”.
He said such a move would eliminate the country’s ability to recover.
He also stated that Iran’s air defence systems and radars had been “completely destroyed” and that the United States has “full military superiority”. There has been no independent confirmation of these claims.
According to Trump, Iran’s nuclear facilities were “heavily damaged” by strikes from strategic bombers and are under constant U.S. satellite surveillance.
The U.S. president added that any attempts by Iran to restore its oil infrastructure could trigger new missile strikes.
