Safety rules approved for children's toys
08.10.2026 14:00

Azerbaijan has enacted comprehensive mandatory safety standards for children's toys under technical regulation TR 002/2026/AZ, approved by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution. The regulation establishes rigorous requirements governing materials, mechanical construction, chemical composition, fire resistance, and electrical safety, mandating that all products pose zero risk to children's life and health when used as intended.

Strict prohibitions apply to toys designed for children under three years of age, banning natural fur, leather, glass, porcelain, recycled secondary raw materials, and small detachable parts presenting choking hazards. For electrical toys, nominal voltage cannot exceed 24 V, laser systems are strictly forbidden, and LED elements must emit non-hazardous radiation safe for children's vision.

Stuffed toys and carnival costumes must meet flame-retardant standards, while all packaging and technical documentation must be labeled in the Azerbaijani state language. Products must undergo mandatory conformity assessment and certification by accredited bodies before market entry. The regulations take effect in six months.
