Azerbaijani NGOs Address Open Letter to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian
Representatives of 55 non-governmental organizations from the Republic of Azerbaijan have issued an open letter to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian. The letter commended his visits to the liberated cities of Khankendi and Shusha, his dedication to fostering neighborly bilateral ties, and his rapport with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, alongside his previous work as a cardiac surgeon treating numerous Azerbaijani patients.
Highlighting Pezeshkian's deep affinity for the Azerbaijani language, literature, and cultural heritage, the signatories appealed to the Iranian president to champion practical measures guaranteeing native-language education for the millions of ethnic Azerbaijanis residing in Iran, in line with constitutional provisions. The appeal urged the systematic introduction of Azerbaijani-language schooling, the establishment of educational institutions, and the preparation of academic curricula and teachers. Citing the poetry of Mohammad-Hossein Shahriyar, the signatories affirmed the readiness of Azerbaijani civil society to extend educational and cultural cooperation to support this initiative.
