Assault on TV Crew at Baku School No. 225: REAL TV Head Rebuts Ethical Breach Allegations
Journalists reporting on the fatal fall of a seventh-grade student outside Secondary School No. 225 in Baku were subjected to physical violence. A camera operator and an intern from REAL TV, along with a crew member from Space TV, sustained bodily injuries during the altercation.
The incident prompted a critical article by the "Azərbaycan müəllimi" (Azerbaijan Teacher) newspaper titled "Journalists Must Not Be Beaten, but Journalism Has Boundaries," which accused media representatives of violating juvenile privacy and ethical standards amid traumatic circumstances.
REAL TV General Director Mirshahin Agayev strongly rejected the newspaper's assertions, denying that his team attempted to interview underage students or trespass on the victims' emotional space.
Agayev clarified that the individual assaulted was an operator's assistant who was not actively filming or conducting interviews, framing the aggression as street hooliganism.
Pledging legal recourse against the perpetrators, the network chief condemned institutional attempts to rationalize physical violence and deflect accountability through unverified allegations before the formal police investigation concluded.
