Illicit Drugs Worth AZN 246 Million Seized in Azerbaijan Across Nine Months

Narcotics and psychotropic substances totaling 8 metric tons 406 kg 878.621 grams seized from illicit circulation during January–September 2026 have an estimated street value of 246,273,000 AZN, according to the Working Group of Azerbaijan's State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

A total of 4,352 individuals were prosecuted for related criminal offenses, comprising 4,235 men and 117 women. Among them were 50 foreign nationals, from whom law enforcement authorities confiscated 566 kg 660.47 grams of various narcotics, 2,778 illicit tablets, 3 potent pharmaceutical pills, and 3 cannabis plants (880 grams).
