10 doctors dismissed over maternal deaths in Azerbaijan this year

This year, administrative measures have been taken regarding 3/2 of 23 facts of maternal death in Azerbaijan, Chairperson of the Health Ministry’s Obstetrical Commission Leyla Rzaguliyeva said at today’s press conference, APA reports.She said that 10 doctors were dismissed over maternal deaths during the past eleven months and administrative measures were taken regarding 77 medical officers: “Some of them were toughly reprimanded.”Leyla Rzaguliyeva also said that investigation is underway on the recent – the 24th maternal death.The commission chairperson also commented on the reasons of the deaths: “Sometimes pregnant women are not registered and receive treatment in various private hospitals. Some of them suffer from diseases and conceal their problems.”ANN.Az
