Barcelona's appeal rejected after Lionel Messi hit by bottle
Well, this is disrespectful.
The Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol rejected Barcelona's appeal on Wednesday regarding the yellow card Lionel Messi received for time-wasting after he was hit on the head by a plastic bottle.
Messi was celebrating his side's 94th-minute, game-winning goal at Valencia on Sunday when a supporter tossed a bottle in the Argentine phenom's direction. A yellow card was issued for time-wasting, and upon inspection by Barcelona's medical staff, Messi appeared unscathed and gave a thumbs-up as he exited the pitch after the final whistle.
Some justice was served, however, as Valencia announced on Monday that the supporter who threw the bottle will receive a lifetime ban from the Mestalla Stadium.
