Putin congratulates Aliyev on birthday

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a letter of congratulations to his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, who turns 53 tomorrow.

In the letter published by the state news agency Azartac, Putin says he "highly values his friendly relations” with Aliyev.

"These relations are based on mutual trust,” Putin wrote. "I am confident that the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan will continue to benefit from our constructive dialogue and joint work.”
