The book "Khojaly Witness of a war crime – Armenia in the Dock” was published by the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) in Russian and Turkish in St. Petersburg and Istanbul as part of the international awareness campaign "Justice for Khojaly” initiated by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.

The book was first published in English by Ithaca Press in London last year, TEAS told APA.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, initiator of the international awareness campaign "Justice for Khojaly” , Leyla Aliyeva, wrote the foreword to the book. It said, "On the night of 25-26 February 1992, one of the most tragic massacres in modern history took place. Backed by a military unit of Soviet troops deployed in the regional center Khankendi, Armenian armed forces carried out an ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijani civilians in Khojaly town. All media representatives from around the world who were there as well as information agencies aware of the event called the tragedy ‘massacre’. The Azerbaijani people met the happenings with deep sorrow, burying the victims in an honorable manner, doing all they can to rehabilitate the survivors of this relentless massacre.

The book "Khojaly Witness of a war crime. Armenia in the Dock" is the first independent book published in English in the West about the Khojaly Genocide. The book includes interviews with witnesses of the Khojaly events, materials of international periodical press about the tragedy, comments of foreign researchers, reports of international organizations and rare photos taken by foreign photographers.

The publication of this book is an international support for the international campaign "Justice for Khojaly". With this in mind, it was expedient to translate the book into a number of languages, including Russian. We hope that every reader of the book will spare no effort to support the international campaign "Justice for Khojaly". The book "Khojaly Witness of a war crime. Armenia in the dock", drawn up with the participation of foreign experts who are deeply aware of materials about the Khojaly Genocide, is a truly unique publication for its composition and the irrefutable documents and materials it covers. The book covers interviews with witnesses of the Khojaly events, materials of international periodical press about the tragedy, comments of foreign researchers, reports of international organizations and rare photos taken by foreign photographers”.
