Azerbaijani businesses may benefit from US-Iranian accord

The expected lifting of Western sanctions on Iran will open up new opportunities for Azerbaijani investments in the Persian Gulf state, according to Farhad Mammadov, head of the Center for Strategic Studies under the Azerbaijani president.
"This would create new opportunities in many sectors of the economy, including trade and transportation,” Mammadov said at a conference in Baku.
The lifting of sanctions will also pave the way for direct investments in Iran and cooperation in the banking sector.
The conference, organized by Azerbaijan’s Pasha Bank and the Confederation of Azerbaijani Entrepreneurs, discussed the activities of Azerbaijani businesses under the new economic conditions.
