Azeri central banker gets term extended for 5 more years

The Milli Maclis (parliament) voted on Friday to extend Elman Rustamov’s term as a member of the board of the Central Bank for five more years.

Rustamov, 63, has governed the Central Bank since 1995. He is expected to be re-appointed by President Ilham Aliyev as chairman.

The parliament has also extended the term of Xaqani Abdullayev, the first deputy governor of the Central Bank.
