Messi becomes owner of Spanish club Cornella

Eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi has become the new owner of Spanish club Cornella, the team said.

The Catalan club plays in the fifth tier of Spanish football and is known for its youth academy.

Former players include Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, Messi's former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba and several others.
