Switzerland beat Colombia on penalties to reach World Cup quarter-finals

Switzerland beat Colombia 4-3 on penalties to reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup after the match ended 0-0 following extra time. 

Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel played a key role by saving Cucho Hernandez’s penalty, while Ruben Vargas converted the decisive spot kick. 

Switzerland reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1954 and will face Argentina in the next round.
