FIFA to review next steps on Russian teams

FIFA will analyse the International Olympic Committee’s decision to provisionally restore the Russian Olympic Committee’s status before deciding on further steps regarding Russian football teams.

FIFA said it would review the decision in coordination with relevant stakeholders. Russian national teams and clubs have been suspended from FIFA and UEFA competitions since 2022 following the start of the war in Ukraine. 

The IOC earlier provisionally lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee, though it has not yet decided whether Russian athletes can compete under their national flag or anthem.
