Türkiye, Pakistan to co-op in energy, transport, defense

Türkiye and Pakistan intend to increase bilateral trade turnover to $5 billion per year and actively cooperate in the fields of energy, transport and defense, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during talks in Istanbul with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, anews informs via CNN Turk.

"Bilateral relations between Türkiye and Pakistan, regional and global issues were discussed at the talks. President Erdogan announced plans to increase trade turnover between the two countries to $5 billion per year. He also said that both countries will develop cooperation in all areas, including energy, transport, defense and the fight against terrorism," reads the press release from the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration following the talks.

The meeting took place at the Dolmabahce presidential office. The Pakistani prime minister's visit to Türkiye was not announced.
