Trump calls for journalists to be allowed into Gaza

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that journalists should be granted access to the Gaza Strip, acknowledging the dangers they may face.
“I would like to see that happen. Of course. It would be wonderful if journalists entered [Gaza]. And it’s a very dangerous position, as you know, if you’re a journalist. But I’d like to see that,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
Israel generally restricts foreign journalists from entering Gaza unless accompanied by the Israeli military.
On August 10, the Israeli army said an airstrike near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza killed Al Jazeera journalist Anas Jamal al-Sharif, whom the army described as a senior Hamas member. Four other journalists reportedly died in the same strike.
