Turkey detains another mayor in expanding anti-corruption prob

Istanbul police have detained 42 people, including Beyoglu district mayor Inan Guney, on corruption charges, Turkish media reported.
The arrests were made following an order by the local prosecutor's office.
Those detained include members of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), to which the Beyoglu mayor also belongs.
This marks the ninth wave of anti-corruption operations as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct at the Istanbul municipality.
The probe was launched following the detention of Istanbul’s opposition mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, one of the most prominent political figures in Turkey.
