Dozens of assault rifles found in truck entering Turkey from Syria

Turkish authorities have seized dozens of assault rifles in a truck that entered the country from Syria in the Akcakale district of Sanliurfa, local media reported.

Officers from the Akcakale Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence unit searched the vehicle and found 51 assault rifles and 41 magazines hidden inside the truck’s fuel tank.

The driver, identified as A.B., was detained and an investigation is under way.
