Orders for the supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) increased in early January.

According to TAP’s electronic platform, 363.85 million kWh of gas was booked through the Kipoi exit point in Greece for the period from January 5 to 12, marking a 4.1% increase compared with the previous week’s Monday level.

At the same time, the volume was 0.85% and 0.86% lower than the levels recorded on December 30 and 31, respectively, and remained unchanged compared with the January 1–5 period.

Daily bookings via Greece’s Komotini exit point for January 5–12 remained unchanged at 28.67 million kWh, while volumes at the Nea Mesimvria exit point also stayed stable at 30.35 million kWh.

At Italy’s Melendugno exit point, bookings for gas deliveries for January 5–12 amounted to 304.83 million kWh, up 6.2% compared with December 29. Compared with December 30 and 31, volumes were 0.12% higher, while remaining unchanged versus the January 1–5 period.

Construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline was completed in October 2020. The 878-km pipeline runs through Greece, Albania, beneath the Adriatic Sea, and into Italy. Commercial deliveries of Azerbaijani gas to Italy, Greece and Bulgaria via TAP began on December 31, 2020.
