Musk’s Starlink to provide free satellite internet to Venezuela amid crisis

Musk’s Starlink to provide free satellite internet to Venezuela amid crisis
05.01.2026 12:30

SpaceX’s satellite internet division, Starlink, announced on Monday that it will provide free high-speed broadband access to the people of Venezuela until February 3, 2026.

The company shared the update via its official account on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "Starlink will provide free broadband access to the people of Venezuela through February 3 inclusive."

The move follows reports of significant internet disruptions and censorship in the country following recent political unrest and military escalations. By bypassing local ground-based infrastructure, Starlink’s low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites can provide connectivity directly to user terminals, regardless of local government restrictions.
