‘Decisive success’ achieved in Iran operation, threat reduced, Trump says
The 32-day military operation against Iran has significantly weakened the country and reduced the threat it poses, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an address to the nation on April 1.
Comparing the current conflict with past wars, Trump said the operation was progressing more rapidly and demonstrated the effectiveness of U.S. military action.
“The country has effectively been destroyed and no longer poses a threat,” he said.
Trump also described Iran as an “aggressive player” in the Middle East, adding that, in his view, this role now belongs to the past.
The U.S. president said Washington’s actions were aimed at ensuring long-term security, including reducing risks linked to Iran’s nuclear programme.
He added that, in his assessment, the operation strengthens the security of the United States and its allies, noting that the international community is “watching what is happening.”
