A Harrisburg man is facing sexual assault charges after police said he admitted having sex with a 15-year-old girl at her Lewisberry home while her parents were sleeping.
Stephen A. Koropchak II, 21, of the 4300 block of New Jersey Avenue, was charged earlier this week after the alleged incident occurred Oct. 27, according to charging documents.
The girl in the incident told authorities in an interview that she met Koropchak through Facebook and later spoke to him several times on the phone. The conversations eventually led to discussions about sex, the girl told authorities.
Koropchak then asked to come to the girl’s home on Oct. 27, she told authorities. Koropchak allegedly waited for about 30 minutes outside the home until the girl’s parents went to sleep.
The girl told authorities that she allowed Koropchak inside the house through a rear door in the basement. The meeting soon turned physical and eventually led to the girl and Koropchak having sexual contact in a storage room off the basement, the girl told authorities.
Koropchak in an interview with a Fairview Township police detective admitted to meeting the girl on Facebook and knowing that she was 15 years old, the detective wrote in charging documents.
Koropchak also provided details on the sexual contact, saying it was consensual, and told the detective he left after the encounter because the girl was afraid her parents would come downstairs.
Koropchak was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Scott J. Gross and his bail was set at $20,000. The bail is unsecured, meaning Koropchak will only have to pay if he fails to show up for court proceedings.
He is charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a person younger than 16, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person younger than 16.
Koropchak has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 16 in York County Court.
