The United States Embassy in Azerbaijan is pleased to partner with Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and sponsor the rock music band ACIDIC’s visit to Azerbaijan on October 30 – November 7, 2016.
The US Embassy is very happy to lend our full support the 2nd National Science Festival in Azerbaijan, and to lend the sounds of ACIDIC to the science festival, the embassy told ANN.
Festivals like this, including music and interactive booths, help get young people excited about science. They make science popular, and encourage students to study science and technology fields. This is particularly important for helping build a talented, diverse workforce in Azerbaijan that will be able to meet the demands of a growing economy in the technical and scientific fields, and to accomplish a priority of the Azerbaijani government – the diversification and modernization of its economy. The Embassy has a booth at the Festival showcasing our Maker Space at the Baku American Center, where kids can engage in hands on science learning, including building robots and learning to code.
Over the next week, in conjunction with the Science Festival, ACIDIC will be giving four free, public concerts throughout Azerbaijan to attract students to the sciences and encourage the development of science and technology fields in Azerbaijan. The group will travel to Baku, Sumgayit, Sheki, and Ganja. All of ACIDIC’s performances in Azerbaijan are free and open to the public.
