Embassy of India Organises Great Indian Ayurveda Festival in Baku to Mark 11th Ayurveda Day

Baku, 23 September 2026: The Embassy of India in Azerbaijan organised the Great Indian Ayurveda Festival at the Chancery premises in Baku on 23 September 2026 to mark the 11th Ayurveda Day. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a diverse gathering of diplomats, Azerbaijani Government officials, media representatives, social media influencers, yoga enthusiasts, Azerbaijani citizens and members of the Indian diaspora.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Shri Abhay Kumar, Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan, highlighted the enduring relevance of Ayurveda as India’s ancient system of holistic health and wellness, which places emphasis on harmony between the body, mind and environment. He noted that Ayurveda’s focus on prevention, balanced living, nutrition and healthy lifestyles has particular relevance in the contemporary world, where lifestyle-related health challenges are increasingly gaining attention. Ambassador Kumar also underscored that Ayurveda represents not merely a system of treatment, but a comprehensive approach to wellbeing rooted in India’s ancient knowledge traditions. He encouraged the guests to learn more about Ayurveda and make use of the free consultations and health check-ups being offered by the visiting experts.

The Festival brought together renowned experts in Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine and wellness systems, including Yoga, who introduced participants to different dimensions of India’s holistic approach to health.

An important attraction of the Festival was the free medical check-up and consultation facility, where guests had the opportunity to interact directly with Ayurveda and wellness experts and receive personalised guidance. The initiative enabled participants to gain a practical understanding of Ayurveda’s approach to preventive health, lifestyle and overall wellbeing.

Speaking on the sidelines, Mr Elchin Guliyev, a renowned Yoga teacher from Azerbaijan, highlighted the benefits of these traditional Indian wellness systems and spoke about their transformative impact on his health and overall wellbeing. His testimony offered a personal perspective on the practical relevance of Ayurveda and Yoga in promoting healthier and more balanced lifestyles. 
The Festival also featured a presentation of Ayurvedic food and traditional Indian wellness practices, providing guests an opportunity to experience the connection between nutrition and health that forms an important part of Ayurveda. The programme was complemented by Indian cultural performances, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the celebration.

The Great Indian Ayurveda Festival provided a platform to showcase India’s rich and continuing traditions of health and wellness while fostering greater awareness of Ayurveda among Azerbaijani audiences. The event also highlighted the potential for further people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between India and Azerbaijan in the fields of Ayurveda, Yoga, traditional medicine and holistic wellness.
