Control post established and biosecurity tightened following anthrax case in Samux

Veterinary and public health authorities have escalated containment and biosecurity protocols in the village of Alyushagy, located in Azerbaijan's Samux district, following a confirmed case of cutaneous anthrax. A dedicated monitoring checkpoint and disinfection barrier have been established at the entrance to the village.

Personnel from the District Veterinary Department are carrying out systematic disinfection of agricultural machinery and transit vehicles entering and leaving the area. Strict regulatory oversight has been imposed on the transit of raw meat and dairy products. Concurrently, veterinary specialists are conducting health assessments and administering booster vaccinations across livestock herds in local farming compounds.

According to a joint statement from the Ministry of Health, the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA), and TƏBİB, epidemiological contact tracing linked the primary confirmed infection to exposure to cattle. Laboratory tests officially confirmed the anthrax diagnosis in the primary patient, and all identified close contacts have been placed under active clinical observation.
