Aliyev urges stronger information security in message to D8 Media Forum
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in a letter addressed to participants of the inaugural D8 Media Forum in Baku, emphasized the importance of deepening media cooperation among member states of the Developing Eight.
Aliyev noted that since Azerbaijan’s admission to D8 last year, the country has contributed actively to the organization’s economic, social, humanitarian and climate agenda. He said the D8 platform, representing a population of 1.2 billion people, offers broad opportunities in sustainable development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, climate action and energy security.
Highlighting the rising threats of disinformation, fake news, cyberattacks and deepfakes, the president said these trends undermine global stability and trust. He expressed confidence that the forum will help build a “fair, unbiased and responsible information space” among member countries.
Aliyev added that Azerbaijan will continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening journalistic professionalism, evidence-based reporting and media literacy.
