Russian Emergencies Ministry’s plane to deliver humanitarian aid to Syria

Russian Emergencies Ministry will send humanitarian aid to Syria and will evacuate Russians and CIS nationals from the country, the ministry’s press service told TASS on Monday.

"A Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 plane will soon fly from the Ramenskoye aerodrome in the Moscow Region to Latakia with humanitarian aid onboard," a ministry’s spokesman said.

More than 20 tons of humanitarian aid will be delivered to Syrian people, including canned meat, fish and milk, sugar, baby food, as well as necessities, including blankets. "Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 return flight will deliver around 90 citizens of Russia, CIS countries and other foreign countries to Moscow who wished to leave the Syrian Arab Republic in connection with intensifying military actions on its territory," the emergencies ministry said.

Deputy director of the ministry’s Department of international activities noted that aid to Syria will be provided on the order from the Russian government. He noted that this is already the ninth emergencies ministry’s special flight to Syria since the situation in the country started to deteriorate.
