Lavrov: Russia expects progress in Karabakh talks

The meeting was held on Tuesday as part of the Russian minister’s working visit to Azerbaijan.

"I appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss bilateral relations, the situation in the region and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This is the topic which we are trying to resolve under your leadership, the leadership of the presidents of Armenia and Russia, as well as the [OSCE] Minsk Group co-chairs. I hope that progress will be achieved,” Lavrov said, according to Russian media. 

Lavrov’s visit to the region comes amid heightened tensions along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the line of contact.
