Azerbaijan: Prosecutor-General's Office summons website editors over “false” reports

The Azerbaijani Prosecutor-General’s Office has summoned editors of several news websites over "false and slanderous” reports published in recent weeks about government agencies and officials.
The editors of Mia.az, Cumhuriyyet.az, Gundeminfo.az, Criminal.az, Strateq.az, Istiqlal.az, JAM.az and other websites were told to stop publishing such reports or face criminal charges.
Azerbaijan’s online media covered extensively the dismissals and arrests of senior officials of the ministries of national security and communications in the past month, mostly citing anonymous sources.
The country has yet to decriminalize libel.
