Liverpool idol Luis Suarez could be sold... Man Utd, City and Chelsea have cash for deal

That’s the shock claim from The Sun, who say the Spanish giants are struggling for cash.

Barcelona are trying to convince their biggest stars - including Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar - to stay at the Nou Camp.

But it’s said to be pushing them to the brink of financial meltdown as they’re struggling to compete with the bumper wages now on offer in the Premier League.

Top world stars have already admitted to having their heads turned by the huge cash in England.

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller said in October: "Of course, the wages that are being paid in the Premier League are very tempting. It would be hypocrisy to deny that.”

Barcelona’s current wage bill is already at an unsustainable 73 per cent of revenue.

The club have a £423m expansion of the Nou Camp to fund too, meaning the finances are stretched to breaking point.

And The Sun says that means former Liverpool striker Suarez could be available - if the price is right.

Realistically, a return to Anfield is hugely unlikely given Suarez’s desire to play consistently in the Champions League.

But Starsport understands Manchester giants United and City - and Chelsea - all have the huge cash reserves to pull off a deal.

Broadcasters Sky and BT Sport bought the Premier League TV rights from the start of next season for a record £5.1bn, dwarfing the other top European leagues.

It means the team that finishes bottom from next year will receive £99m, with the champions earning more than £150m.

Starsport exclusively revealed last month how Suarez's Barca team-mate Messi was pondering a move to the Premier League.

But that’s providing he was handed a staggering contract worth £600,000 a week.

The four-time World Footballer of the Year is open to a move to England after falling foul of the tax authorities in Spain.
