Eva Carneiro attends court over Jose Mourinho bust-up

Eva Carneiro attends court over Jose Mourinho bust-up

The 42-year-old was dropped from first-team duties in controversial circumstances on the opening day of the season by Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese then-boss of Chelsea criticised her and physio Jon Fearn for treating Eden Hazard during the Swansea match, meaning the team was briefly left with just nine men.

Carneiro, flanked by her legal team, arrived at London South Employment Tribunal in Croydon hand-in-hand with husband Jason De Carteret this morning.

She made no comment to waiting press as she entered court for a hearing which is being held in private before an employment judge.

After the Swansea match on August 8, Mourinho called Carneiro and Fearn "impulsive and naive", and the doctor did not appear on the bench again, later parting company with the club.

Today's hearing will settle procedural disputes between the two sides, and deal with witness statements and the disclosure of documents, including texts and emails, from both sides, as well as fix the timetable of the case.

The parties may agree to a settlement before the case is heard.

Chelsea filed their defence last month, while Carneiro has a separate legal action against Mourinho, who left the club in December, for alleged victimisation and discrimination.

Mourinho was cleared of using discriminatory language towards Carneiro following an FA investigation.

Afterwards, Carneiro and the FA's independent board member, Dame Heather Rabbatts, criticised the governing body for not interviewing the doctor as part of its investigation.

Carneiro has had backing from FIFA's medical chairman, Michel D'Hooghe, who contacted the doctor to offer his and FIFA's support for "simply doing her job".
