Government lifts the ban on NGO accounts
Chief Prosecutor's Office submitted a recommendations to courts on lifting the ban on accounts of NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) operated in Azerbaijan and the accounts of their directors, Alimammad Nuriyev, the director of "Constitution" Research Center and the coordinator of the Coalition on Increasing Transparency in Extractive Industries told the Report news agency.
He said that the decisions of the courts on this issue will be sent to the banks.
"Since NGOs and their directors have accounts in branches of different banks there are some delays. Cerain period of time is needed for that.The recomendation has been submitted to each court. It means after making a decision it is presented to the banks. The personal accounts of the members of the Coalition on Increasing Transparency in Extractive Industries and their directors were frozen. The ban on accounts of of three organizations out of eight has already been lifted, at a further stage the ban on five accounts will also be lifted."
A.Nuriyev added that the issue will find its full solution within this week."The representatives of those organizations can contact me in case of facing any problem." he said.
