China powered past Azerbaijan 3-0 here Wednesday morning for their second straight victory at the FIVB Women' s Volleyball World Championships, Xinhua reported.

Hui Ruoqi and Zeng Chunlei had 14 points apiece and Yang Junjing and Zhu Ting added 11 and 10 respectively as China swept the European dark horses 25-13, 25-16 and 25-17.

Coming off a 3-2 upset win over World Grand Prix runners-up Japan Tuesday night, Azerbaijan were unable to match their Chinese counterparts in all aspects. China reaped 41 points from spike while Azerbaijan only managed 26 and the Chinese women also outblocked Azerbaijan 15-4.

Polina Rahimova, who had notched game high 33 points against Japan, was held to nine points with a poor spiking efficiency of 8-for-31.

"We made good preparation for the game, especially on the defense of Polina, and it seemed to work well. I have to thank the players," said China coach Jenny Lang Ping.

"We were particularly tired because of the hard fought match of yesterday against Japan," said Azerbaijan coach Aleksandr Chervyakov.  "This is the reason that it has been a difficult match for us today."
