Nude photographs purported to be of the singer Rihanna were leaked online last night, weeks after hackers released similar naked images of other Hollywood stars.

The FBI and Apple, the technology company, are investigating after pictures from the personalities’ personal Apple accounts were leaked on Sept 1. The hackers created a list of 101 famous women they intended to post pictures of.Throughout the weekend, more women on the list had allegedly nude images of them released online. As well as Rihanna, images were released that were believed to be of Emily Ratajkowski, a British model.Other alleged victims include Kim Kardashian, a reality television show star, Vanessa Hudgens, an actress, and Aubrey Plaza, an actress and comedienne.Britons on the list whose images had not been released yesterday included Cat Deeley, a presenter, Kelly Brook, a model, and Michelle Keegan, a Coronation Street actor. The women affected over the weekend remained largely silent.Gabrielle Union, an American actress, said she intended to contact the FBI.In a statement, she said: “I can’t help but to be reminded that since the dawn of time women and children, specifically women of colour, have been victimised, and the power over their own bodies taken from them.“These atrocities against women and children continue worldwide.”In a previous statement, Apple said: “When we learnt of the theft, we were outraged and immediately mobilised Apple’s engineers to discover the source.“Our customers’ privacy and security are of utmost importance to us.“After more than 40 hours of investigation, we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the internet.“None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone.“We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved.”The FBI said that it was “aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high-profile individuals, and is addressing the matter.”“Any further comment would be inappropriate at this time,” a spokesman added.(telegraph.co.uk)Bakudaily.Az
