Azerbaijan`s Mirzayev claims bronze at ECO CUP 2014

Iranian Ehsan Ghaem Maghami emerged a clear winner with 7 points, leaving the runner-up half point behind. He lifted the trophy and took the first prize in the amount of 2.500 $.Second place was shared by Marat Dzhumaev from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijani Mirzayev on 6,5 points each, but Dzhumaev took the silver on a better tie-break score.The tournament, organized by ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) in collaboration with Iran`s Chess Federation, aimed to improve cooperation and exchange culture between member countries of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).Ten players from 10 federations of member countries of ECO including Islamic Republic of Iran, Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey took part in the tournament. The tournament was played in a round-robin format under the FIDE laws of chess with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move 1.
